San Jose – Central Valley:

Tortuguero Canals:
Located on the warm Caribbean Sea, Tortuguero is world renowned for the nesting of the green sea turtle. Travel lazily back in time to a prehistoric Amazonian-style rainforest aboard one of the many riverboats traveling from below the central highlands to Tortuguero National Park. We provide the local guides to help you discover endangered species of crocodile and manatee as you make your way through the complex canal system surrounding your jungle lodge. Sleep peacefully beneath Casablanca ceiling fans as howler monkeys, Tucans, and varied bird life fills the jungle around you.

Arenal Volcano – La Fortuna:
Two hours out of San Jose, through coffee plantations and past splendid waterfalls, you are face to face with one of the most active volcanoes in Central America. Bath in thermal baths just steps from your hotel or horseback ride on the volcano with the assistance of experienced guides. Windsurf on Arenal Lake, hike to Fortuna Falls, and visit the Ventano Caverns. Accommodations range from the majestic views from the Arenal Lodge, the awesome location of the Arenal Observatory Lodge, or the pampering at the Tabacon Spa and Resort at the base of the volcano!

Monteverde Cloud Forest:
Drive the road voted "the most scenic byway in Costa Rica" to a canopied forest a mile high! Catch glimpses of the ever-active Arenal Volcano through the mist as you horseback ride or hike on easy trails within one of the richest and most complex tropical cloud forests in the world. Second only to the great coral reefs in diversity, Monteverde cloud Forest is home to the resplendent quetzal (found only in Costa Rica and Guatemala) and the rare golden toad. Visit the Butterfly Farm, the famous Monteverde Cheese Factory, and walk in the treetops on raised bridges in the sky. This reserve has become famous for its unique role in preserving Costa Rica’s vanishing cloud forests.

Selva Verde:
Nestled in the midst of a lowland tropical forest, this is one of the richest areas in the world for birds, butterflies, orchids, tree ferns and wild animals. North out of San Jose on paved roads, you have ample opportunity to stop at the Poas Volcano visitor Center to experience at close hand an active crater as you look directly into its bubbling cauldron. At the Selva Verde Lodge, built right in the treetops, you can sit on the veranda while observing the myriad species of wildlife, raft down the adjoining river or, accompanied by a local naturalist guide, take a four hour nature walk through Selva Verde’s own private Reserve.

Northern Pacific Coast:
For activity and beaches, visit the areas of El Ocotal, Flamingo, and Playa Tamarindo. Known for its surf and sand, you can add to a relaxing stay a little tennis, golf, dancing, snorkeling, fishing, and exploring. A wide variety of hotels set in beautiful surroundings compliment visits to wildlife refuges and quiet walks on the beach.

Southern Caribbean:

Manuel Antonio:
Tropical jungle reaches down to sheltered white sand beaches. An area superior in beauty to the Caribbean island of your imagination. You can swim in the crystal clear waters or picnic on secluded beaches as you watch monkeys play in the jungle only a few feet away. Osa Peninsula:
